  3. Choose the quality

Drag the Quality slider. 90% looks the same as the original for almost every photo; lower values make smaller files. The picture keeps its size in pixels.

Frequently asked questions

Is this HEIC to JPG converter free and private?

Yes. The conversion runs inside your browser, so your HEIC files are never uploaded to a server. Our server only records that one image was converted, along with your network address, so that the daily limit shown above the converter can be applied.

Will I lose quality converting HEIC to JPG?

Both formats are lossy, so each conversion re-compresses the picture and a very small loss is possible. Keep the quality slider high (90% or more) if you want the result to look the same as the original. Always keep your original HEIC file.

What happens to transparency?

JPG cannot be transparent, so any transparent area becomes white.

Is the photo's location and other metadata kept?

No. The converter writes a fresh JPG file with only the picture, so GPS location, camera details and dates stored inside the original are not copied. If you want a JPG with the original metadata, use a desktop editor instead.

Can I convert to HEIC as well?

Not here. Browsers cannot create HEIC files reliably, so this site only converts from HEIC. JPG is the most compatible choice for sharing.

Why won't my iPhone photos open on my computer?

Since iOS 11 iPhones save photos as HEIC by default. Windows needs an extra codec to open them and many websites reject them. Converting to JPG gives you a file every device understands. You can also switch the camera to "Most Compatible" in the iPhone's Camera settings to save JPG directly.

Does the converter keep my photo's rotation?

Yes. The photo's rotation is applied during conversion, so it comes out the right way up. The location, camera and date details stored inside the file are removed.
