How to Convert PNG to PDF (Screenshots, Logos and Scans)

By teamJUH · Published 6 November 2026 · 4 min read

PNG is what you get from screenshots, and it’s common for logos, charts and scanned pages. But when a form asks for a PDF, or you want to send ten screenshots as one document, a folder of images won’t do.

This guide shows how to turn PNG files into a PDF with the free PNG to PDF converter, including the settings that keep small text readable. For photos and other formats, see the general guide on how to convert images to PDF.

How to convert PNG to PDF

  1. Open PNG to PDF and click Choose PNG files, or drag them onto the page. You can add up to 50 at a time, and mix in other image types.
  2. Put the images in order with the arrow buttons. Each image becomes one page.
  3. Choose the settings if you need to (see below). The defaults suit most documents: A4, automatic orientation and a small margin.
  4. Click Create PDF, then Download.

Under Output, choose One PDF with all images for a single document, or One PDF per image for separate files.

What’s different about PNG

Transparent backgrounds become white

A PDF page here is a picture on white, so a logo with a transparent background appears on white. If the design is white or very light, it may be hard to see. Give it a coloured background in your editor first.

Keep text sharp with a higher quality

Pictures are stored inside the PDF in compressed form, as JPEG. That suits photos, but screenshots, charts and small text show it first, as faint smudges around the letters. For these, move Quality up from the default 85% to 90–100% and check the result.

Quality makes a real difference to the size. In our test, a 189 KB screenshot gave a 60 KB PDF at 75%, 74 KB at 85% and 230 KB at 100%.

Large screenshots

Image size is set to Large (2400 px), so anything wider or taller is reduced. That’s plenty for most pictures. For very large screenshots with small text, or anything you’ll zoom into, choose Original.

Which settings to choose

  • For printing or a form: A4 or US Letter under Page size. Each picture is scaled to fit and centred.
  • For reading on screen: Fit to image makes each page the exact size of its picture, with no border. It suits wide screenshots that would look small on an A4 page.
  • Orientation: leave it on Automatic, so wide pictures get landscape pages and tall ones portrait.
  • Margin: None for edge-to-edge pictures, Normal if you’ll print and need room around them.

Good to know

  • The text isn’t selectable. Each page is a picture, so you can’t search or copy its text. To get the words out, use Image to Text on the PNG.
  • PDF too big for an email or form? Lower the quality a little, or choose Medium (1600 px).
  • Just need a smaller image, not a PDF? Use the Image Compressor.

Frequently asked questions

Are my images uploaded?

No. The PDF is made on your device, so your images never leave it. That matters for screenshots of accounts, documents and anything private. Our server only counts how many were converted, so the free daily limit can be applied.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. It works in the browser on phones, tablets and computers, with nothing to install.

Can I check two versions of the PDF?

Yes, with Compare PDF Files. Because these pages are pictures, use its visual comparison.
